DEDICATIONS | "Music has to go from one heart to another" - G. Enescu |
Two composers. Sixty years apart. Belgium, Romania. Paris.
The famed Conservatoire in Paris brought both César Franck and Georges Enescu to the City of Light, the place they were to later call their home for the rest of their lives. Despite the modest output for violin and piano from both composers (in Franck’s case, only one!), each one is a trove of infinite treasure .
Conceived as a wedding gift in 1886 to his violinist friend Ysäye, Franck’s Violin Sonata encapsulates the colourful spectrum of tumultuous emotions that make up a relationship and marriage. Some sixty years later, Georges Enescu wrote his 3rd Violin Sonata “Dans le caractère populaire roumain”, paying homage in the most magical way to the folklore, mystic and rhapsodic nature of his beloved home country Romania, capturing the very essence of its spirit and the soundscapes special to his land.
Two musical dedications of entirely contrasting natures and equally powerful messages – join 92steel&guts in celebrating them and all that they honour and represent.
